 Why in news

  • The Supreme Court ordered that compensation for land lost in the Bengaluru-Mysore Infrastructure Corridor (BMIC) project be based on the market value in April 2019, not 2003.

  • The Court emphasized that the right to property is a human right and protected by Article 300-A of the Constitution.

  • The Court ruled that compensation must reflect the land's current value, ensuring fairness to the landowners.
