D. Gukesh became the youngest World Chess Champion at 18 years old.
He surpassed the record set by Russian Grandmaster Garry Kasparov, who held the title for nearly 40 years.
Gukesh defeated Ding Liren of China in the final game of their match, with Gukesh scoring 7.5 points, which was the requirement to win the World Chess title.
Gukesh is the third Asian to win the World Chess Championship, after Viswanathan Anand (India) and Ding Liren (China).
