Buddhist monks and followers are launching a 1,000 km, 70-day padayatra from Sannati to Bengaluru.
The purpose is to demand ₹500 crore for the Sannati Development Authority to improve and preserve the ancient Buddhist site of Sannati and Kanaganahalli.
Sannati
Sannati is an ancient Buddhist site located in Chittapur taluk, Kalaburagi district, Karnataka
Nestled along the banks of the Bhima river.
Alongside its historical importance, the site is home to the revered Chandrala Parameshwari Temple.
Evidence suggests that the site underwent significant development across phases during the Maurya and Satavahanas periods, spanning from the 3rd century B.C. to the 3rd century A.D.
The inscription "Raya Asoko" is found on a relief at the Kanaganahalli Stupa in Sannati
in Brahmi script inscribed on the relief identify king Ashoka as the subject matter
