Billion Tree Afforestation Support Project (BTASP) is part of the German-Pakistan Climate and Energy Initiative launched at COP26 to address climate risks.
The project aims to plant and support the growth of one billion trees to combat deforestation, promote biodiversity, and mitigate climate change.
First Phase: Implemented with €13.5 million, focusing on forest management and climate change efforts in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
Second Phase: Aims to expand and enhance the project's impact. Germany is providing €20 million for the second phase
Targeting the plantation of 10,000 hectares of new trees.
Strengthening the capabilities of the KP Forest Department, including developing a Management Information System.
Mobilizing local communities as essential stakeholders in forest preservation.
