AB PM-JAY Card
Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, or AB PM-JAY
Launched in 2018, it provides ₹5 lakh insurance coverage per family for secondary and tertiary hospitalisation at government or empanelled private hospitals.
It targets vulnerable families and now includes senior citizens aged 70 and above.
This card is essential for cashless treatment under the scheme.
Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA) card
A digital health ID, not a health insurance card.
It provides a 14-digit ID linked to medical records for easy access to health history and services across the country.
It stores health data such as medication, consultations, and hospitalisation details.
Difference
The AB PM-JAY card offers health insurance benefits, while the ABHA card is a digital record-keeping tool
Having both cards ensures access to medical services and insurance benefits.
For the AB PM-JAY card, eligible individuals (including senior citizens) can apply online or at empanelled hospitals.
The ABHA card is also created online using Aadhaar or a driver’s license and stores health data.
