Egypt was certified as malaria-free by the World Health Organization (WHO) on October 20, 2024.
This achievement marks the end of nearly a century-long effort to eliminate malaria in the country.
WHO called this certification "truly historic."
Globally, 44 countries and one territory have now been certified as malaria-free.
