Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, a significant welfare initiative for tribal-majority villages at an event in Jharkhand’s Hazaribag district.
Formerly PM Janjatiya Unnat Gram Abhiyan, the initiative was originally named to emphasize the improvement of rural infrastructure and livelihoods in tribal areas.
The Union Cabinet cleared the package last month as an umbrella initiative to implement existing welfare schemes

Aims for basic scheme saturation in 63,000 Scheduled Tribe-majority villages across 550 districts.
Named after Birsa Munda, a key tribal leader who resisted British colonial rule.
It includes 25 targeted interventions aimed at enhancing infrastructure and welfare services.
The initiative has a substantial financial allocation of ₹79,156 crore over five years.
Central government will provide ₹56,333 crore, with states contributing ₹22,823 crore.
