The humble long-legged, fleet-footed centipedes often mistaken for spiders from the animal group ‘Scutigeromorpha’ has been found to be having an ancient link between India and Australia
Scientists discovered that Indian 'scutigeromorphs' originated in the ancient supercontinent Gondwana and evolved within Peninsular India, using specimens from the Western and Eastern Ghats and a global genetic dataset.
Scutigeromorpha

These centipedes are found in the temperate and tropical parts of every continent except Antarctica
Adults, measure 2 to 3.5 cm in length, but some can reach 8 cm in body length, have 15 leg-bearing segments.
Species in this order can be readily recognized by their long legs and antennae.
