Why in news
The Indian Army has inducted 100 robotic mules to enhance logistics in high-altitude areas.
These advancements were showcased at the Himtech symposium in Leh, highlighting innovations for extreme environments, especially after the 2020 stand-off with China.
What are Robotic Mules
The Robo-Dogs, known as MULES (Multi-Utility Legged Equipment), are robotic units designed in the shape of dogs
The robotic mule is a high-endurance, agile and durable all-weather ground robot for use in a broad range of unstructured urban and natural environments for defence applications.
Operate in extreme temperatures (−40 to 55 degrees Celsius).
Carry payloads of up to 15 kg.
Navigate obstacles like stairs and rivers.
It also has a firing platform that can also be integrated into it.
