Tungabhadra river
It is a sacred river in southern India that flows through the state of Karnataka to Andhra Pradesh.
The ancient name of the river was Pampa.
It is formed by the confluence of two rivers, the Tunga River and the Bhadra River.
Both Tunga & Bhadra Rivers originate on the eastern slopes of the Western Ghats.
The greater part of the Tungabhadra’s course lies in the southern part of the Deccan plateau.
It’s Major tributaries are the Bhadra, the Haridra, the Vedavati, the Tunga, the Varda and the Kumdavathi.
It flows in a more or less northwest direction before joining the eastern river Krishna.
Hampi or Vijayanagara, capital of the Vijayanagara empire is located along the Tungabhadra River
