The first phase of Tarang Shakti, the largest multilateral air exercise hosted by the Indian Air Force (IAF), comes to a close
Air Chief Marshal V.R. Chaudhari announced plans to make the exercise a biennial event while stressing that it should not be seen as a “challenge to any other nation”.
Tarang Shakti-2024 is India’s first multinational air exercise
It is inspired by the Red Flag exercise hosted by the US
The exercise will be held in 2 phases, with the first phase in southern India and the second in the western sector.
Ten countries will be participating with assets and 18 as observers
A total of 150 aircraft, both foreign and IAF
Germany, France, Spain, and the U.K. are scheduled to take part in Phase-1
While Phase-2 will see participation of Australia, Bangladesh, Greece, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and the U.S.
Phase-1 will be held from August 6-14 at Sulur in Tamil Nadu
Phase-2, to be held from September 1-14 at Jodhpur, rajasthan
