Inscription found in Andhra Pradeesh village reveals Vijayanagara king’s donation to God Mallikarjunadeva
It was found on a Nandi pillar at Palutla village in Nallamala forest area in Prakasam district
The inscription is from Vijayanagara king Devaraya II.
It is dated to October 18, 1436 CE (Saka 1358, Nala, Karttika, su 9).
The king donated 800 Varahas (gold coins) and a village called Puttluvadi (likely present-day Palutla) to the deity Mallikarjunadeva of Sriparvata
The donation was intended for worship, festivals, and food offerings to the deity
The inscription is written in Telugu language and characters
It is engraved on all four sides of a Nandi pillar
The inscription was studied by Vadde Madhav, a research scholar in Ancient History and Archaeology.
