Astronaut Selection and Training
Four astronaut candidates selected, Shubhanshu Shukla, Prashanth Nair, Ajit Krishnan, and Angad Pratap.
Shukla and Nair selected for a mission to the International Space Station (ISS).
Training includes both domestic and international programs.
Joint Mission to ISS
India and the U.S. announced a joint mission to the ISS in 2024.
Shukla and Nair will participate in this mission, gaining experience and conducting experiments.
The mission will be conducted in partnership with Axiom Space and utilize SpaceX's Crew Dragon capsule.

Expose Indian astronauts to the intricacies of spaceflight operations.
Provide hands-on experience as a mission pilot.

Gaganyaan Mission Status
Undergone crucial tests like pad abort, high-altitude abort, and crew escape system.
Launch vehicle (LVM-3) is being prepared to carry humans.
Crew module and life support systems under development.
Uncrewed test flights planned for 2025.
