Denmark, Greece, Pakistan, Panama and Somalia got seats on the U.N. Security Council in a secret ballot in the General Assembly.
The 193-member world body elected five countries to serve two-year terms on the council.

Denmark
Denmark is a Nordic country in the south-central portion of Northern Europe.
It is the metropolitan part of and the most populous constituent of the Kingdom of Denmark, a constitutionally unitary state that includes the autonomous territories of the Faroe Islands and Greenland in the North Atlantic Ocean.
Metropolitan Denmark is the southernmost of the Scandinavian countries, lying south-west and south of Sweden, south of Norway,and north of Germany, with which it shares a short border.
Pakistan
Pakistan, is a country in South Asia.
It is the fifth-most populous country, having the second-largest Muslim population as of 2023.

Bounded by the Arabian Sea on the south, the Gulf of Oman on the southwest, and the Sir Creek on the southeast, it shares land borders with India to the east; Afghanistan to the west; Iran to the southwest; and China to the northeast.
It shares a maritime border with Oman in the Gulf of Oman, and is separated from Tajikistan in the northwest by Afghanistan's narrow Wakhan Corridor.
Somalia
Somalia, is the easternmost country in continental Africa.
The country is on the Horn of Africa and is bordered by Ethiopia to the west, Djibouti to the northwest, the Gulf of Aden to the north, the Indian Ocean to the east, and Kenya to the southwest.
Somalia has the longest coastline on Africa's mainland.

Greece
Greece, officially the Hellenic Republic, is a country in Southeast Europe.

Greece has the longest coastline on the Mediterranean Basin, featuring thousands of islands. Athens is the nation's capital and largest city.
Panama
Panama, is a country in Latin America at the southern end of Central America, bordering South America.
It is bordered by Costa Rica to the west, Colombia to the southeast, the Caribbean Sea to the north, and the Pacific Ocean to the south.
Its capital and largest city is Panama City
Before the arrival of Spanish colonists in the 16th century, Panama was inhabited by a number of different indigenous tribes.
It broke away from Spain in 1821 and joined the Republic of Gran Colombia, a union of Nueva Granada, Ecuador, and Venezuela.
After Gran Colombia dissolved in 1831, Panama and Nueva Granada eventually became the Republic of Colombia.
With the backing of the United States, Panama seceded from Colombia in 1903
