Despite firms in existence for less than three years not being allowed to make political contributions.
The data show that at least 20 such newly incorporated firms purchased electoral bonds worth about ₹103 crore.
When they purchased their first electoral bonds, five of these firms were in existence for less than a year.
Seven of them were a year old and the eight had only completed two years.
Twelve of these 20 companies were headquartered in Hyderabad.
Together, these twelve firms donated ₹37.5 crore.
Close to 75% of this amount was encashed by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), with the rest divided among the Telugu Desam Party, the Congress and the BJP.
Of these 12 firms, eight donated exclusively to the BRS.
Is firms making political contributions within three years of incorporation allowed in India?
Firms making political contributions within three years of incorporation is not allowed in India. This has been a ban in place for several decades.
There are other restrictions on political contributions by companies.
Limited amount based on average profits over three years
Specific methods for making donations (cheque, bank draft, etc.)
Prohibition for government-owned companies and those with no profits.

However, if their submitted documents now fail the scrutiny of the empowered committee, or if there is an adverse security clearance report about them, their applications for Indian citizenship under the CAA could be rejected.
Review procedure for CAA rejection?
If an application is rejected, people may end up in detention centres.
The parent law, the Citizenship Act, 1955, says that the applicant may file a review application before the Central government within 30 days.
