The cow comes with many distinctive features including a small hump.
Reared by tribespeople in Arippa and Thenmala, they are less docile and basically thrive on forest-based fodder.
Thenmala Kullan
The Thenmala Kullan is a dwarf cattle breed indigenous to the Arippa and Thenmala regions of Kerala, India.
They are known for their small size and distinctive features, including a small hump.
There are efforts underway by the Kerala Animal Husbandry department to conserve the Thenmala Kullan and register it as a unique indigenous breed.
Studies are also being conducted to verify the breed-specific traits.
