What is Zero Hour?
Zero Hour is a specific time slot in the daily proceedings of the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
In zero hour Members of Parliament (MPs) can raise matters of urgent public importance.
It typically starts immediately after the Question Hour, which takes place between 11 am and 12 pm.
The duration of Zero Hour is not fixed, but it usually lasts for about 30 minutes.
During Zero Hour, MPs can raise issues without giving prior notice.
Although they are encouraged to inform the Speaker or Chairman beforehand.
However, the Speaker or Chairman has the final discretion to decide whether or not to allow a particular issue to be raised.
Zero Hour is an important mechanism for MPs to bring pressing issues to the attention of the government and to seek immediate action.
