Mahabalipuram

The ancient name of the place is Thirukadalmallai.
Mahabalipuram was one of two major port cities in the Pallava kingdom.
The town was named after Pallava king Narasimhavarman I, who was also known as Mamalla.
It was a flourishing port city and an important cultural and religious center during the Pallava dynasty (7th-9th centuries AD).
Group of Monuments:
The most famous attraction in Mahabalipuram is the Group of Monuments at Mahabalipuram, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
This group of monuments consists of rock-cut cave temples, monolithic temples, bas-relief sculptures, and structural temples.
