• This index measures the quality of elections in a country.

• Its based on a number of factors, including the transparency of elections, the participation of voters, and the fairness of the electoral process.

• The index ranges from 0 to 1.

• 1 being the most free and fair. 

• In 2022, the average score for all countries was 0.49. 

• The top ten countries, according to the index, were:

1. Denmark (0.97)

2. Sweden (0.96)

3. Finland (0.95)

4. Uruguay (0.94)

5. Costa Rica (0.93)

6. Netherlands (0.92)

7. Ireland (0.91)

8. Chile (0.91)
