Warli tribe
The Warli tribe is an indigenous community inhabiting the North Sahyadri Range in Maharashtra.
They are considered one of the largest Adivasi tribes in India, with a population exceeding 1.1 million.
The Warlis have a rich and vibrant culture, deeply intertwined with nature.
Their traditional paintings, known as Warli art, are renowned for their geometric simplicity and symbolic representations of nature and tribal life.
Warli art is typically created using rice paste on the walls of their mud huts.
The paintings depict scenes from everyday life, such as hunting, farming, and festivals, as well as mythological figures and spirits.
The Warlis are also known for their unique musical traditions.
Their songs and dances often tell stories about their history, culture, and beliefs.
Warli culture is facing some challenges in the modern world, as traditional ways of life are increasingly giving way to modern influences.
