Ukraine’s energy ministry said on Monday that it will begin building four new nuclear reactors this year.
Energy Minister German Galushchenko said in televised comments that all four new reactors would be at the Khmelnytskyi nuclear power plant in western Ukraine, eventually making it the largest in Europe.

The Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant is located in Netishyn, Ukraine.
It is operated by Energoatom, the state-owned nuclear power company of Ukraine.
The plant has two VVER-1000 reactors, each of which can generate 1,000 megawatts of electricity.
The Khmelnytskyi Nuclear Power Plant is an important part of Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.
It provides about 20% of the country’s electricity.
The plant has also been a target for Russian attacks during the ongoing war in Ukraine.
In August 2022, the plant was hit by a drone attack, which damaged some administrative buildings but did not affect the reactors.
