 Jallikattu in the Sangam literature

• The Sangam literature is a collection of Tamil poems and songs dating from the 3rd century BC to the 3rd century AD. 

• Jallikattu, or eru thazhuvuthal, is a traditional Tamil sport in which a bull is released into a crowd of people, and participants attempt to grab a prize tied to its horns. 

• The sport is believed to have originated in the Sangam period.

• Mentioned in several Sangam poems.
