  • G-7 Foreign Ministers on Wednesday called for humanitarian pauses in the Israel-Hamas war.

  •  They let aid in and help the release of hostages and sought a return to a “broader peace process”, as Israeli forces continue to strike the Gaza Strip.

G7 countries

  • The Group of Seven (G7) is an intergovernmental political forum consisting of seven of the world's advanced economies.

  •  Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. 

  • The European Union (EU) is also a "non-enumerated member", meaning that it participates in all G7 meetings but does not have a vote.

  • The G7 was originally formed in 1975 as the Group of Six (G6).

  • Canada joined the group in 1976. 

  • The group was originally intended discuss economic issues. 

  • The agenda of the G7 has since expanded to include a wider range of topics, such as foreign policy, security, and development.

  • The G7 is considered to be one of the most important international organizations in the world. 

  • The leaders of the G7 countries meet annually to discuss pressing global issues and to coordinate their policies. 

  • The G7 also issues statements and declarations on a variety of topics, which can have a significant impact on international affairs.

  • The G7 does not have a permanent headquarters.

  • 2023, Japan presides over the G7, and In 2024, Italy will preside over the G7,
