  • Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday said Left-wing extremism (LWE) will be totally eliminated from the country in two years.

What is Left-wing extremism(LWE)

  • Left-wing extremism is a term used to describe a wide range of political ideologies and movements.

  • LWE advocate for significant societal and political change through revolutionary means. 

  • Left-wing extremists may target government institutions, law enforcement agencies, or private property to further their agenda.


  • LWE are often motivated by a desire to create a more just and equitable society

  • They may believe that the current system is fundamentally flawed and cannot be reformed through peaceful means.

  • Some left-wing extremists may be inspired by specific ideologies, such as communism, anarchism, or socialism.

  • Some left-wing extremist groups are relatively non-violent. 

  • while others engage in terrorism and other forms of violence. 

  • Left-wing extremists may also engage in other illegal activities, such as property destruction and theft.

  • Left-wing extremism is a complex phenomenon with a long history. 

  • It has been associated with a wide range of movements and groups, including the American Civil Rights Movement, the anti-Vietnam War movement, and the environmental movement.

  • It is important to note that not all left-wing groups are extremist. 

  • Many left-wing groups engage in peaceful political activity and work to achieve change through democratic means.
