Armenia’s Parliament voted on Tuesday to join the International Criminal Court, a move that further strains the country’s ties with its old ally Russia .

It is the first and only permanent international court with jurisdiction to prosecute individuals for the international crimes of genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes and the crime of aggression.
The ICC was established in 1998 by the Rome Statute.
The Rome Statute is an international treaty that has been ratified by 123 states.
The ICC can only investigate and prosecute individuals who are nationals of states that are parties to the Rome Statute.
The ICC can also prosecute individuals who have been referred to the Court by the United Nations Security Council.
India is not a member.
