Delhi’s air quality slipped into the “very poor” category on Saturday and is unlikely to improve over the next three days.
Delhi’s 24-hour average AQI was 304 (very poor) at 4 p.m. on Saturday, up from 261 (poor) a day earlier, as per the daily bulletin of CPCB.
Air Quality Index (AQI)
The AQI is a measure of how clean or polluted the air is.
It is calculated using the concentrations of five major pollutants:
Ground-level ozone, Carbon monoxide, Sulfur dioxide,Particulate matter, Nitrogen dioxide.
AQI Category and Color
The AQI is divided into six categories,
Good (0-50): Green
Moderate (51-100): Yellow
Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups (101-150): Orange
Unhealthy (151-200): Red
Very Unhealthy (201-300): Purple
Hazardous (301-500): Maroon
