Over past few year Delhi and nearby regions are facing severe air pollution.
Delhi government announces a comprehensive action plan to deal with this winter season.
Due to air pollution, city struggles with smog, poor visibility, low air quality and respiratory issues.
Mainly air pollution is extreme due to the Stubble burning and meteorological factors.
15 point action plan
Action plan includes controlling of stubble burning, vehicular pollution, open burning and dust pollution.
Formation of special team to enforce some of the existing ban such as open garbage burning.
Using of bio-decomposer made by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute.
The bio-decomposer will be used over 5,000 acres of farmland which significantly reduce the stubble burning.
PM2.5 and PM10 levels in the city reduced by 30% between 2014 – 2022.
Administration of Delhi, decided to impose a complete ban on the sale, storage, production, and bursting of firecrackers.
Pollution Hotspots
Government had identified 13 pollution hotspots.
Several special team has been formed for the implementation of action plan.
