The historic Kuttikkanam Palace (Idukki), which once served as the summer residence for the rulers of Travancore, is set to be designated as a historical monument.
The palace's eligibility for historical monument status was confirmed by the Kerala State Archaeology Department under the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Sites and Remains Act.
Constructed during the reign of Moolam Thirunal Rama Varma, who ruled the Travancore princely state from 1885 to 1924, the palace has historical significance linked to Travancore rulers.
The palace's historical importance is further accentuated by its connection to an abandoned tunnel believed to link it with the renowned Peermade Sreekrishna Swami temple.
