The Bonn Climate Change Conference took place in Bonn, Germany from June 5 to 15.
The conference is considered the halfway mark to the COP (Conference of Parties) climate summit scheduled for November.
It serves as a platform for climate negotiations involving nearly 200 countries.
The conference plays a crucial role in building a framework to address climate change and fulfill the pledges made at the 2015 Paris Agreement.

Selection process of COP28 President
The host country of the COP summit nominates a president to lead the climate negotiations.
In this case, United Arab Emirates (UAE) Industry Minister Sultan Ahmed al-Jaber was nominated as the COP28 President.
Mr. al-Jaber, who is the CEO of the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) since 2016, was appointed as UAE’s Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology in 2020, a new department established that year.
The selection received backlash from Western lawmakers, leaders of certain countries, and civil society groups.
