Jute

- India is the world's largest jute producer, followed by Bangladesh and China.
- Bangladesh, on the other hand, leads in terms of acreage and trade, accounting for three-quarters of global jute exports compared to India's 7%.
- Because of the rich alluvial soil of the Ganga-Brahmaputra delta, it is mostly concentrated in eastern India.
- West Bengal, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Meghalaya, and Tripura are all major jute producing states.
- It's also known as the "golden fibre."
- Gunny bags, mats, ropes, yarn, carpets, and other artefacts are made from it.
- The government has a fixed Minimum Support Price (MSP) for raw jute procurement from farmers
